David Bowie - young americans - the dick cavett show newyork

This video of David was filmed in one of my favourite eras for Bowie not just his soulful, funky music but his persona, the colour of his hair, the carrot colour still there from his 'Ziggy Stardust' days but highlighted with blond and a completely different hair style to his former character 'Ziggy Stardust', chomed back and falling down a bit at the front, not the mullet style he had before, he looked so slick and interesting more than anything. Some people say this was a bad era for Bowie, leaving his good old rock 'n' roll days behind and going soul, everyone turned their noses up, they thought he'd gone all 'lovey dovey', but I liked it, I thought he really complemented the soul sound he was using, you could still say that this is still the Bowie we all know and love. The year of this video '74' was the same year he released 'diamond dogs' and with his character which he plays in the 'David live tour' which was around the time this video was made, he portrays the death of Ziggy Stardust(his former character) if you like and brings in a whole new soulful, funky, rocky edge to his sound which then became his medium for the album 'Young Americans' which is also the title of this song released in '75' as a single on the album.
